Want to build your dream life? Start today!

I had a funny experience a few weeks ago. I said to Alice, my beautiful partner: “I just want to read and write and talk…why can’t I do that every day?”. She turned the question back on me and said: “You tell me.”.

I knew why immediately: “I’m not making that possible for myself”, I said. In fact, when I truly thought about it I realised I was actually blocking it from becoming my reality.

The thing is I was spending every day doing anything but working on my dreams. In fact worse than that, I would spend all day working on other things (important things that I’d promised to people and wanted to do) whilst thinking about all the things I should be doing for myself, for my future, for our future. This void grew bigger every single day as I continued to think about one thing and do another.

The whole thing made me feel frustrated and behind on my goals but worst of all it gave me a sense of lack. Remember, I believe you manifest who you become, not what you want and so I knew something had to change. But, what did I expect? I mean really??

In order to get what you want you have to ask for it, yes, and believe it’s possible, yes, but you also have to put the work in to make it a reality. I believe in magic, I believe you manifest your dream life and I believe it all starts with your thoughts. However, if your actions are in direct contrast to your thoughts then you’re not giving yourself a fair shot.

Have you heard that parable about the guy lost at sea?

A man was trapped in his house during a flood. He began praying to God to rescue him. He had a vision in his head of God’s hand reaching down from heaven and lifting him to safety. The water started to rise in his house. His neighbour urged him to leave and offered him a ride to safety. The man yelled back, “I am waiting for God to save me.” The neighbour drove off in his pick-up truck.

The man continued to pray and hold on to his vision. As the water began rising in his house, he had to climb up to the roof. A boat came by with some people heading for safe ground. They yelled at the man to grab a rope they were ready to throw and take him to safety. He told them that he was waiting for God to save him. They shook their heads and moved on.

The man continued to pray, believing with all his heart that he would be saved by God. The flood waters continued to rise. A helicopter flew by and a voice came over a loudspeaker offering to lower a ladder and take him off the roof. The man waved the helicopter away, shouting back that he was waiting for God to save him. The helicopter left. The flooding water came over the roof and caught him up and swept him away. He drowned.

When he reached heaven and asked, “God, why did you not save me? I believed in you with all my heart. Why did you let me drown?” God replied, “I sent you a pick-up truck, a boat and a helicopter and you refused all of them. What else could I possibly do for you?”

The point of the story is this: the Universe is working with you every moment of every day. Follow the cues you see, take the help offered and work with what’s on offer in that moment.
“But I don’t know how Lisa”, I hear you shout. Well let me ask you: who does?? You tell me one person who knows what tomorrow will bring, or how something will work out, or how to build the impossible. Too often we delay because we want to know how it will turn out if we take the plunge: we want a guaranteed return, right? Well, I now know for sure that the outcome is never what you expect it to be anyway so stop expecting perfection, don’t delay until you know more: take a step towards your dreams today and respond (positively) to the cues you get along the way. That is how you build your dream life.

Have an amazing day life!!Lisa
