Lisa on Beach

If you’ve been hanging out me and Al (aka Alice Allum) on Facey B recently, you might have already seen the first of our four-part Facebook live series: The Late Night Show with Alice and Lisa. In this episode, boldly named ‘Systems of Success’, we share some really practical ways to get you on the road to your dream life. These are the real NITTY GRITTY things we’ve done to help us manifest our dream life. In this first episode, we focus on how to bring your vision to reality.

So let me ask you: What is your vision? I mean really: Where do you see yourself in 24 months’ time? This is important because your journey starts when you have a clear idea of where you want to be and what you want to be doing in the future. If you haven’t got that vision solidified yet, take a second now to stop reading and scribble some ideas down on paper, using these questions as a guide:

  • Where do I want to be in 24 months’ time?
  • What would I love to have access to?
  • What do I genuinely want out of life?
  • What does my perfect day look like?
  • What is life on my terms?

Be honest with yourself. This is important because what you expect for your life is what will MANIFEST and your vision is the start of the journey towards your new incredible life.

As we say in the live, your vision is your driving force: It’s your ultimate goal to work towards and it inspires you to keep going to the full realisation of your purpose.

When I hit rock bottom, uncovering my purpose was the thing that helped me get back up. It gave me meaning. But it didn’t give me DRIVE. My vision gave me drive. My purpose gave me confidence to take action.

So my purpose was like an internal guidance system saying ‘yes, that’s right’ but my vision was my hope: It was my expectation of a better life and it kept me going. Having a bold and compelling vision lifts you up and reminds you what’s possible in life even if it appears to be outside a misty window, beyond your current reality.

But, let’s be honest: A vision only remains motivating when you’re taking steps towards it. Without action, a vision can feel like a burden or a pipe dream. Action bridges the gap. So let this post be your reminder to START NOW and keep working hard because, as we stressed in the live video, that dream life of yours will never become a reality if you’re only waiting for it to arrive, or if you keep hanging on for the ‘right’ moment to start working on it. Taking action today is what is going to bring your vision towards you and help you live out your purpose in the world.

So how do you do that? Well, there are four important stages to manifesting your dream life:

We all have a vision or secret fantasy; something we’d love to have in life if only there were more time, if only we could start again. Well there is plenty of time and you can start again. BUT YOU’VE GOT TO OWN IT.

Write down your vision somewhere as your personal reminder. Visualise what your new life looks like in your mind, over and over – experience it, feel it. Make yourself BELIEVE you can have it through affirmations and gratitude exercises.

Close your eyes and step into your new reality. Focus on how it feels and let that feeling expand. Say thank you for this wonderful feeling and for the person you are today who is making this wonderful new life happen.

Next, share it with somebody or write about it online – be bold enough to claim it and talk about it. If you can’t ‘say’ your vision out loud or if you’ve never written it down then have you truly owned up to what you want?

Own your vision. It was given to you because it’s possible for you.

When changing your life, the temptation is to wait for the right time or a better financial situation to come along, but we know in reality that these ideal conditions will never come. You create them through ACTIONNNNN.

Whatever your situation is right now, why not take one small step today?

Whatever you do today creates your tomorrow, even when it looks like time is running out for you. As I always say to Alice, ‘blink your eyes and five years will have passed’. If you feel like time is running out or you’ve missed your chance, it’s because you’re not taking action, making your dream feels out of reach. Taking action will immediately put you back on the path to your dream life and that feels guuuuud!!

What one small step can you take today to bring your dream life closer to you? Maybe it’s buying a new domain name for your blog. Maybe it’s going back to that exercise class. Maybe it’s moving £50 to your savings account right now. Maybe it’s looking for a new job.

Take action today and let the path unfold.

I love this idea! The next stage is to consider the kind of person you are now and who you need to become in order to make your vision a reality. Alice and I talked a lot about this in the live stream because it has been a game changer for us.

When we construct an ideal life, we often base it off an identity or we ‘edit’ our current reality. My view is ‘don’t try to fix what you have’ – start again with your vision: Start with a blank canvas and ask yourself “Who do I need to become to have THAT?”.

This means:

  • What do you need to learn?
  • What do you need to believe?
  • Who do you need to meet?
  • Where do you need to be?
  • What do you need to read?
  • What do you need to eat?
  • What do you need to say?

You are what you do repeatedly, so what new actions, rituals and actions do you need to do repeatedly to become the person in your new vision?

You see there are factors about ourselves that we simply have to change if we’re going to attract the opportunities we need to bring our vision to life. In other words, if we want an incredible life, we have to be the person who can live it.

In my case, I talked about our plans to have a villa in Ibiza and my vision to take our dog running along the beach there. Before we had a dog ourselves, we borrowed other people’s dogs to run along the beach, in Tynemouth. We took those steps, of going running, borrowing dogs and moving to the beach, so that we could be a step closer to BEING THE PEOPLE who could do that very same thing in Ibiza. This is manifestation: What you feel expands. What you do every day compounds.

As Alice said in the live, the joy comes from the journey. Just take that in for a moment. The joy comes from the journey. I know we all want results but isn’t it fun learning a new skills or making progress towards a goal? Being out of breath on a run feels much better than sitting on the couch thinking about it. Launching your first blog, even if it isn’t perfect, feels much better than a notebook full of ideas. Working on your business is much more fun than thinking about it. There is joy in the process of becoming.

Sometimes I say to Alice ‘Yikes I’ve got so much editing to do’ and I find myself begrudgingly sitting down to edit a video (which feels odd to write by the way). She always replies with ‘Lisa, this is the life you wanted so enjoy it’. I immediately think ‘wow you’re right!’ and I realise I’m doing what I always wanted to do. So what if it’s hard? So what if it takes time? So what if I have to re-arrange my priorities to live it? It’s what I wanted and what I want so I might as well enjoy the challenges it brings.

Remember that your vision is the manifestation of your purpose, your idea of an amazing life and no matter how difficult it is, making changes and taking action now (TODAY) is the only way to make your vision a tangible outcome.

The four-part Late Night Show with Alice and Lisa goes live on Facebook every Thursday this month so tune in for more practical advice and home truths in the next episode.
